On the city tour you will see such highlights as the City Hall, Merchant House, Princess House and St. John’s Church. Eight hundred years long history of Cesis is visible not only on the streets but also in Cesis castle complex. Inside the medieval castle you will receive a lantern and climb up its towers. Afterwards, nature is waiting for you! You will go for a short, about six kilometers long hike to see beautiful red sandstone cliffs along the ancient Gauja River valley and enjoy our wonderful nature.

- Cesis old town
Cesis is located in the centre of Vidzeme and considered as one of the most beautiful towns in Latvia. The symbol of the city is the medieval castle ruins with a park, wich creates a romantic atmosphere. Cobblestone streets of the Old Town of Cesis have preserved their medieval layout, as well as the old buildings with red tile roofs, enclosed courtyards and restored building facades.
- St. John’s Church
It is one of the oldest medieval architectural monuments in Latvia and the largest medieval basilica outside of Riga. The basilica, which is 65 m long and 32 m wide, consists of three parts, and in its western part there is a 65 m high belfry with a 15 m Gothic style tower.
- Cesis medieval castle complex
You will walk around the Cesis castle and garden, where you will see the contours of the castle from the courtyard side, climb the Western Tower and visit the old southern tower - a former prison.
- Ancient Gauja River valley
Gauja National Park is the largest and oldest national park in Latvia. It is characterized by high biodiversity, relief variability, many springs, sandstone cliffs, picturesque landscapes and outstanding natural and cultural monuments.

How to dress:
- Please, dress accordingly to the weather forecast! Due to very changeable weather, layering is key to enjoying the hike, and rain protection is a must-have. Any comfortable shoes are good enough for this tour.
